About this experience
Istanbul and its unique neighborhoods can be explored for a long time. However, there is a minimum program of locations that must be visited regardless of how many days you are staying. The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Galata Tower... These places are permeated with history, which we will uncover for you in an engaging format!
What to expect
Over 4 hours with a cozy group, we will walk through the heart of Istanbul. In the evening, when all the sights are illuminated by warm lights. Along our way:
The Blue Mosque, or Sultanahmet Mosque. One of the most magnificent monuments of architecture in Istanbul. You will learn who ordered its construction and why the mosque has two names.
The Hippodrome. A square in the historic center of Istanbul. Unique with preserved monuments of different civilizations.
Hagia Sophia, or Church of the Holy Wisdom. An outstanding monument of Byzantine and world architecture, a symbol of the 'Golden Age' of Byzantium, sometimes called 'the eighth wonder of the world'. You will hear about the different statuses of the church over time and how two religions coexist within it: Christian and Muslim.
The Basilica Cistern. An impressive underground water reservoir from the heyday of Byzantium (4th-6th centuries). We will talk about the water supply system that was active in Constantinople at that time, and you will enjoy the mysterious atmosphere of the underground.
Galata Bridge. This bridge has long played a connecting role between two opposing cultures: the Ottoman Empire, steeped in Muslim traditions and customs, and Galata - the commercial district with a Western influence, where traders, entrepreneurs, and diplomats of various nationalities operated.
Galata Tower. Known as one of the oldest towers in the world! You will learn by whom, when, and for what purpose it was built.
