About this experience
When you think of Uzbek cuisine, pilaf certainly comes to mind - but that's not all that could surprise you about Samarkand gastronomy! I invite you to explore the culinary world of the East a little further. Together with a hospitable host, you will prepare juicy manty, samsa, and spicy bichaki, and then sit down at the dastarkhan to enjoy this magnificent meal.
What to Expect
Uzbek Hospitality Customs
Our meeting will begin at a cozy Samarkand house - following all the rules of Uzbek hospitality. You will meet the hospitable host, relax a bit, and chat over hot green tea. The guide will explain the uniqueness of Uzbekistan's cuisine, the interesting local dining customs, the most commonly used ingredients and spices, and the dishes we will be preparing.
Manty, Samsa, and Bichak: Cooking and Eating!
Meanwhile, the homeowner will prepare the necessary ingredients for the master class and share the secrets of each dish during the process. Together, you will prepare the most tender manty, juicy samsa, and aromatic bichaki - Uzbek pies:
- For manty, you will roll out the thinnest dough, carefully wrap it around freshly chopped meat, and steam the dish in a manty steamer.
- For samsa, you will work with puff pastry and take meat with spices.
- Finally, bake the bichaki: in spring and summer, we make herb pies, and in cold weather - pumpkin ones.
And when our aromatic meal is ready, we will sit down at the dastarkhan to enjoy the results of our culinary efforts!
