About this experience
Kehlsteinhaus, also known as the Eagle's Nest, is a masterpiece of Third Reich architecture. You will drive along a picturesque serpentine road and ascend to a height of 1834 meters on a 'golden' elevator: from the observation deck, you will enjoy a stunning panorama of the Bavarian Alps. We will talk about the former owner of the 'Tea House' and the elite of Nazi Germany, and then proceed to taste varieties of schnapps in an ancient distillery.
What to Expect
Gift for the Fuhrer
The Eagle's Nest residence was a gift to Hitler for his birthday. A lot of money was spent on its construction, primarily due to its unique location. Once there were 13 official receptions at the highest level, and today the building houses a restaurant and a souvenir shop. A lift with luxurious finishes will take you to the platform in front of the residence: with bronze polished to a golden shine, leather seats, and mirrors. In the oval room, you will see a huge fireplace, a gift from Mussolini. I will share with you the history of this building and its owner, tell you about the Third Reich, Bormann, and Eva Braun - Hitler's wife.
Forests, Lakes, Mountains
Perhaps the most important reason to ascend to the Eagle's Nest is the magnificent view from the panoramic platform. The entire area within a radius of 300 km will lie at your feet, including the neighboring Salzburg and the famous Lake Königssee. You will learn about the flora and fauna of these places, as well as about the resort of Berchtesgaden, Mount Watzmann, and the Alps region in Bavaria and Austria. On the way back, we can visit the secret bunker built at the end of the war to protect the elite of the Third Reich, and the Museum of the Tragic History of the 20th century.
Try a German Drink
Optionally, we will visit the famous distillery, where schnapps has been produced from mountain ash since 1603. The owner of the enterprise will show and tell you how the same family has been producing the famous type of schnapps for 400 years. You will taste various types of this unique warming drink for free, so popular in Europe.
