About this experience
Welcome to the most photographed city in Austria, praised by bloggers, guidebooks, and travel websites! You will see picturesque lakes, an ancient church on a cliff, and a charnel house with skulls. Learn where Red Bull energy drink innovations are conceived and, if desired, take a walk through the salt caves and ascend to the Skywalk viewing platform.
What to Expect
We will show you the most interesting photo spots and lead you on a maximally comfortable route to avoid large crowds of tourists as much as possible. We will introduce you to the history of this ancient place, so snugly situated between the Hallstätter See and the mountain.
On our route:
- St. Michael's Church- a Catholic church built in the 12th century. It stands literally on the edge of the earth!
- Hallstatt Charnel House. This small building is filled with painted skulls.
- Red Bull office (external viewing). You will see where ideas for new energy drinks are born.
- Fuschl, Wolfgang, and Gosau Lakes- lakes surrounded by beautiful flora. You will see which of these lakes has the cleanest water.
- Skywalk panoramic platform (optional). From a height of 360 meters, magnificent views of houses and streets, mountains, and water unfold.
- Salt Caves (optional)- the oldest in Austria, with roots dating back to Celtic tribes. Salt is still mined here!
