From Munich to Neuschwanstein Castle, Oberammergau Village, and Ettal Monastery
About this experience
King Ludwig II was a famous fantasist. It is hard to say which of his castles is more beautiful than the others, but Neuschwanstein, perched on a rock, cut by gorges, is one of the most iconic. With me, you will not only see Ludwig's grand creation, but also the picturesque village of craftsmen, as well as the ancient Ettal monastery. And you will also enjoy fresh beer and, of course, the incredible Alpine landscape.
What to Expect
Neuschwanstein and legends of King Ludwig
You will embark on a journey along a picturesque Alpine road through Bavarian villages. Along the way, you will learn a lot about the legendary King Ludwig II, as well as listen to the fascinating history of Bavaria. Upon arrival in Schwangau, you will have time to have coffee and stroll along the lake. From the Marien Bridge, you will have the best view of Neuschwanstein Castle - an architectural fantasy of King Ludwig and a beautiful example of medieval romanticism. In the castle, you will tour the halls with an audio guide, and then the guide will show you other palace rooms.
Oberammergau, Ettal, and monastery beer
The picturesque village of Oberammergau is famous for skilled woodcarvers and whimsically painted houses, as well as the open-air theatrical performance of the “Passion Play”, which takes place once a decade. After a walk in Oberammergau, you will visit the 14th-century Ettal Monastery - one of the largest Baroque monuments in southern Germany. And optionally, you will have lunch in a Bavarian restaurant with traditional cuisine and fresh monastery beer.
