From Innsbruck to Neuschwanstein: Crossing the Alps and Finding Yourself in a Fairy Tale
About this experience
The roads from Tyrol to Bavaria are among the most picturesque routes to the famous castle. You will enjoy mountainous Alpine landscapes, walk on the world's highest "Tibetan" bridge, and see Germany's highest mountain. Learn about the life of the mysterious king and his grand projects. And also relax by the lake and taste excellent Bavarian beer.
What to Expect
Magical Alpine Landscapes
Along the way, you will see Germany's highest mountain, Zugspitze, and be able to take a photo with it in the background. You will also see the world's longest Tibetan-style bridge, stretched right above the road. On the way back, you can even walk on it if you want to tickle your nerves, as its bottom is transparent! All the time you will be accompanied by unparalleled Alpine views and engaging conversations about life in Austria through the eyes of locals - we'll talk about migrants, living standards, school education, and much more.
"Swan Village" Schwangau and Castles of Ludwig of Bavaria
Upon arrival, you will explore the fairytale Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. I will tell you about the unconventional personality of Ludwig of Bavaria and share stories from locals that are usually overlooked. You will learn how Bavarians actually treated their king, hear the romantic and sad story of his relationships with Sophie of Bavaria, and discover versions of the ruler's mysterious death. We will also talk about how the "castles that no one needed" turned into a highly profitable tourist business in the region and where some of the money earned from ticket sales goes.
Relaxation by the Lake and Bavarian Brewery
In addition, you can swim or take a ride on a catamaran/boat on the local lake. I will also show you the most beautiful and hidden photo spots so you can enhance your collection with rare shots. On the way back, we can stop by a brewery where you will taste excellent beer and try traditional Bavarian dishes.
