What to Expect
City's Landmarks
I will show you the magnificent building of the Danish Parliament - Christiansborg, the luxurious yet modest palace of Queen Margrethe - Amalienborg, the monument to Archbishop Absalon, the city's founder, and other iconic places of the capital. You will get acquainted with the architecture features of the churches of St. Trinity, St. Nicholas, Holy Virgin Mary, and St. Petri. Peek into the Royal Copenhagen porcelain shop and the antique metal design store Georg Jensen. I will tell you about the city's name, the proclamation of Copenhagen as the capital, how it was stormed by the Swedes, British, and Germans, how it burned and suffered from epidemics, but survived and now delights us with its hospitality.
A City of Fairytales and Magic
Copenhagen is a city where everything is imbued with the breath of a fairytale. You will pass by the windows of Kai and Gerda from 'The Snow Queen' and the basement window in the city court building where the soldier from 'The Tinderbox' sat. You will see Andersen's house and balcony, the statue of the enamored Little Mermaid, and the Gefion Fountain. I will talk about the most famous Danish writer and how the city has changed throughout history. And I will help you feel the character of Copenhagen - restrained, neat, comfortable, serene, and friendly.
