About this experience
This walk is filled with the aroma of coffee, enchanting plots, sweet cream, and stories of the Old Town. First, we will explore the city of spires and towers, kings and merchants, evil trolls, and kind fairies. We will talk about Copenhagen itself, its traditions, and its residents. And in the finale, we will taste desserts from the supplier to the Royal Court - in the confectionery that Andersen himself loved to visit.
What to Expect
So, first, let's explore the streets of old Copenhagen! On our way:
- Town Hall - the heart of the city from which our walk will begin. The Golden Girl in the tower will wave to us and wish us good weather.
- Tivoli Gardens: you will learn why the Danes carefully preserve it in the center of the capital.
- Old Prison, where the soldier from Andersen's fairy tale 'The Tinderbox' awaited execution.
- Medieval market square with the pillory where destinies were decided by order of the king.
- Main pedestrian street Strøget - a pleasant promenade awaits us here and the very confectionery where the great Danish storyteller was a frequent guest.
The storyteller's favorite desserts
Here, each dessert has its own story, and the recipes have been kept under lock and key since the 19th century. Andersen had his own table here: it was often over a cup of coffee that plots for new fairy tales were born from stories he heard at neighboring tables.
Inside the confectionery, there is an atmosphere that is often found in antique shops: the interior, dishes, waiters' clothing, and serving - all of this transports you to Andersen's times. We will recall his fairy tales and, of course, try the desserts named in his honor: but know that choosing can be very difficult!
