About this experience
This sightseeing tour of Copenhagen is perfect for a first acquaintance with the city, which came out of Andersen's fairy tales, its history, and inner life. We will show you the main attractions - from the Town Hall and the fortress to the modern 'Black Diamond'. We will also talk about the local mentality, share city life hacks, and reveal the secrets of Danish happiness!
What to expect
The tour has two routes, 'Red' and 'Blue', which go through different parts of the city and alternate every other day. Both routes start in the very center of the city, at Hojbro Square, where the history of Copenhagen began. You can choose any route and, if desired, plan the next walk for the following day.
'Red' route: about the city's history
You will see Christiansborg Palace and walk through its inner courtyard: in the past, royal persons lived here, and today simple parliamentarians hold sessions here. The building of the Royal Library, the oldest in the city, will amaze you with its new building: in sunny weather, you can see for yourself why the branch was named 'Black Diamond'. We will head to Town Hall Square and visit the Cathedral of Our Lady. We will talk about the royal treasures of Rosenborg Castle and what function the Round Tower serves. I will also talk about Danish cuisine and explain how it happened that a pharmacy became one of the most famous restaurants in the city.
'Blue' route: about the city's life
We will walk along the longest pedestrian street in the city and talk about Danish brands - you will be surprised by the number of familiar names. We will discuss the specifics of Danish design at the walls of the Museum of Applied Arts. We will head to New Harbor: you will learn how the whim of the king gave rise to one of the most popular tourist spots in the city. Perhaps the only one who can argue with this title is the statue of the Little Mermaid. Another aspect of the city will be revealed at the active military fortress of Kastellet, where we will talk about Denmark's participation in World War II. And I will tell you about the country's ties with Russia at the Orthodox Church of Alexander Nevsky.
