About this experience
In the modern world, everything is accelerating: some cities are growing at cosmic speed, while others fall into disuse and are surrounded by rumors. Standing abandoned—without residents, outside of time and bustle—and attracting only the most daring tourists. This can be said about the city we will visit. Or rather, about its old part. Almost without residents, definitely timeless, and of course, without hustle and bustle.
What to Expect
We will venture to the province of Phang Nga, near the island of Phuket, to a small town in southern Thailand.
There you will see:
- Colorful abandonment architecture—so beautiful that you will want to examine its details for a long time
- Gallery buildings reminiscent of Italy, combined with the minimalism and strictness of Chinese colonial style
- Unique street art, unlike anywhere else in Thailand
- Doors and windows in half-destroyed houses fit for hobbits
- Expensive Chinese porcelain in heavy wooden sideboards right at the house entrances and amazing utensils
- Landscapes unexpectedly reminiscent of... What? Northern Thailand? Or Laos?
- A ruined fortress and an open, but non-functioning crematorium
- Abandoned chedis in real wild jungles
You will feel:
- The aromas of creative coffee shops, seeping through the cracks in the walls—so refined that it seems like you are in an aromatic treasure trove
- An extraordinary atmosphere woven from several centuries, simultaneously palpable in ruins of ancient buildings and in modern lofts
You will visit:
- A temple on a hill in Phang Nga Province. Near the huge gilded doors, the valley of mountains shrouded in clouds will be revealed below
- Unique temple structures, where a large commune once lived, but today only monk caretakers preserve the peace of the deserted place
- An old iron bridge—a symbol of the past thriving mining industry
- A village inhabited by descendants of tin miners
Organizational Details
- I will conduct the tour or another guide from our team
- Drinking water will be provided during the journey
- Throughout the day, we will come across cafes where we can have lunch. Lunch is at your own expense—around 250-300 baht per person.
