About this experience
You are in for a rich journey to three completely different temple complexes. In one, you will admire the statue of the goddess of mercy. In another, the lush decoration of the tallest pagoda in Thailand. The third temple will surprise you with its glistening whiteness. We will talk about the features of each, and along the way, we will focus on the way of life in Thai villages that the route will pass by.
What awaits you
You will get the most comprehensive idea of the variety of temple architecture in Thailand and better understand the features of local Buddhism - learn where the gods came from and how it is connected to Chinese culture.
Travel plan:
- We will start the morning from the observation deck of Bang Riang Temple in Phang Nga: from there you will have a view of the statue of Buddha, protected during meditation by the naga king, and the statue of the Chinese goddess of mercy, Guan Im.
- The appearance of the second complex resembles the Indian Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya - one of the four holy places associated with the life of Buddha. The central chedi, covered in gilt gold, is considered the tallest pagoda in Thailand. Inside, we will examine the magnificent decoration and the statue of a seated Buddha with animals from the Thai lunar calendar.
- Special attention will be given to the huge 30-meter statue of the immortal monk Luang Pu Suat with a pearl in his hands. You will learn what it symbolizes and what people ask for near it.
- Lastly, we will visit the pearly white temple complex on a mountain in Krabi province. It is accessed by a staircase symbolizing Buddha's path, and you will have to exert a little effort to climb to the top. But from the height, you will have a breathtaking view of Krabi Town.
