About this experience
You will experience a full immersion into Japan: learn about samurais and shoguns, visit a Shinto shrine, decipher the symbolism of lanterns and stones in a traditional garden. Additionally, I will tell you about modern customs and traditions: where Japanese people like to spend their time, what they cook at home, and how they raise children.
What to Expect
Shinto Shrine — Journey Through Time
The Tract Street will lead you to the gates of an ancient Shinto shrine. Climbing the steps, you will find yourself in a serene and very picturesque place with mighty centuries-old trees. Next, you will climb 'mini-Fuji' - a hill built from real lava stones brought from the legendary mountain. Enjoy wonderful panoramas, ask for wishes to be granted by the deity spirit, and find the 'magical' spring. You will also learn about the formidable shogun - the founder of the Tokugawa clan.
Sengakuji Temple and 47 Samurai
You will visit a small Buddhist temple Sengakuji, where 47 samurais, who avenged the death of their lord, are buried. You will hear their tragic story and see in the memorial museum at the temple wooden figures of brave samurais and other relics associated with them.
Traditional Japanese Garden Happpo-en
After walking through several residential blocks, you will find yourself in the magnificent Happpo-en garden, which means 'garden of eight landscapes.' You will uncover the sacred meaning of lanterns, stones, and paths, enjoy bonsai trees and a picturesque pond with carp. And in the tea house, you will be able to enjoy healthy matcha tea and taste a cute local treat.
Popular Shibuya
The walk will end in the Shibuya district, known for its colorful cafes, clubs, and fashionable youth. You will see the statue of the loyal dog Hachiko and walk through the busy 'intersection of seven roads' - one of the most recognizable symbols of Japan.
