About this experience
Once, women strolled here in luxurious kimonos, emperors philosophized under cherry blossom trees, and legendary samurais honed their body and spirit. Today, on the streets of ultra-modern and eccentric Tokyo, you can ask questions to robots, marvel at inventions in the digital technology museum, and get lost among designer boutiques in Ginza. On this walk, I will help you build a bridge from the world of past cultural symbols to the present and show you places where you can see all the images associated with the Japanese capital.
What to Expect
The Pulse of Modern Tokyo
To immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this original city, we will start the tour on one of the most expensive streets in the world - Ginza. I will tell you how the district, where kimono trading started, has transformed into a world of dazzling window displays, designer boutiques, pearl shops, and top restaurants. You will learn about the history of one of Japan's most beautiful buildings - Kabuki Theatre.
We will visit an ancient shrine, built 150 years ago, located in the center of the 'Megapolis', where you will discover Shinto traditions and rituals. Along the way, you will see many traditional Japanese items: samurai swords, antique kimonos, and explore old and ultra-modern buildings of the capital.
Later on the walk, I will show you exhibitions of cars and concept cars designed and produced with the latest technologies, and a trendy digital art museum that captures the imagination of not only children but also adults.
The Oldest Monarchy in the World and Edo Period
Passing through parks with palaces, we will talk about the Japanese imperial household, its historical role, and current status in the Land of the Rising Sun. You will ride a driverless train and enjoy bird's eye views of Tokyo Bay. Along the shores of reclaimed lands, I will share interesting details about the creation of an artificial island and reveal secrets not commonly discussed. Here, you can taste Japanese sweets and snacks, stroll down a recreated antique shopping street from the Edo period. This important period will have a special conversation - as it was during this time that the Japanese spirit and national idea formed, and literature experienced its golden age.
