About this experience
Here you won't hear loud music, everything breathes elegance and traditions - it's Charlottenburg, where the Berlin bourgeoisie traditionally prefers to live. I will help you not to get lost and find all the most impressive things in this authentic district. From the modern business center we will walk to the richly historical squares, trade boulevards and quiet streets, to end up at the magnificent palace complex.
What to Expect
Architectural Features of Charlottenburg
Berlin, which travelers love so much today, is not the same city it was centuries ago. Only by getting lost in West Berlin's Charlottenburg, you will understand how the old Berlin looked - this will be helped by the best examples of 'Belle Époque' architecture from the Gründerzeit period. I will tell you how Berlin's 'Altbau' buildings are arranged and even take you to an old inner courtyard.
Interesting Behind the Facades
We will pass by a couple of typical Berlin restaurants, where celebrities like Gorbachev and Reagan used to hang out. In one of the most expensive parts of the city, we will find the museum of the first woman accepted into the Prussian Academy of Arts, and an art center with the largest private collections of works by impressionists, from the Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Functionalism eras. You will also be amazed by the little mansion of the Ceramic Museum.
Main Route Highlights
- The most recognizable symbol of West Berlin - the sculpture 'Berlin' against the backdrop of the majestic ruins of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church at the foot of skyscrapers;
