About this experience
During the trip, you will get acquainted with the history and culture of northern Armenia. We have designed the route in such a way that each location reveals different aspects of this amazing region. You will see ancient temples, admire their beautiful decoration, and taste traditional Armenian dishes. The guide will tell you about the rich past and traditions of the region.
What to expect
Akhtala Monastery. This is one of the most interesting attractions of Lori region. The 13th-century complex is famous for its decorative carvings and frescoes. You will be amazed at how the architectural object harmoniously blends into the natural landscape.
Ahpat Monastery. The monastery is located in a remote location, which has provided monks with peace and solitude for centuries. We guarantee that you will also feel tranquility here. Enjoy the beautiful view of the Debed River canyon. You will also see the Surb Nshan Cathedral with a beautiful fresco depicting Christ the Almighty.
Sanain Monastery. In the Middle Ages, it was known for its calligraphy school. On the monastery grounds, you will find Armenian khachkars from the 11th-13th centuries. By the way, both Ahpat and Sanain were important educational centers of the region in the medieval period.
Immersion in the past
The guide will talk about the history and cultural heritage of the northern part of Armenia, as well as the significance of the Ahpat, Akhtala, and Sanain monasteries. You will learn about their architectural features, role in medieval education and religious life, and also discuss the cultural context important for understanding these monuments.

- The price of the tour includes the services of a guide, lunch, and transfer by Mercedes Vito, Toyota Ipsum, Mitsubishi Grandis, or Kia Sedona (depending on the group size).
- Passports and birth certificates for children are required for crossing the border.
- The tour will be conducted by one of the driver-guides from our team.

The excursion was simply amazing! We visited several ancient monasteries, each with its own unique history and architecture. Especially memorable was the Akhpat monastery - its majestic walls and ancient frescoes are enchanting. The nature also did not leave us indifferent: the views of the mountain...
