About this experience
Rijksmuseum is not only Rembrandt and the Dutch masters, it is a treasure trove of masterpieces of world art. I suggest exploring my favorite highlights. Eight centuries of art history in two hours - it's possible!
What to expect
Join me on a journey through the halls of the country's main museum. The ancient shell is filled with the most modern museum technologies. Learn about the history of the building, its reconstruction, and the virtuoso combination of antiquity and modernity in the interior. Out of 8,000 exhibits in 80 galleries, I have selected the most interesting for you. The approximate route - from the dark Middle Ages to the rapid twentieth century.
I promise to linger on the floor of the Dutch Golden Age to examine the most important gems of Dutch painting, after all, we are in Amsterdam! Special attention will be given to Rembrandt van Rijn's masterpiece, the painting "Night Watch". After viewing the paintings of the great and lesser Dutch Golden Age masters, we move to the 19th-century department, towards the sunny colors of Claude Monet and Van Gogh's Paris period. Along the way, we will definitely explore the interiors of the most beautiful library in the Netherlands, which makes everyone reach for their cameras. And the last part of the route you will find out already in the museum, let it be a surprise. Trust the art expert, discover what lies hidden in this castle with stained glass and turrets, and uncover the magical world of Dutch art.
This museum resembles a medieval castle with turrets, lancet windows, and stained glass: no wonder that over the past century it has become the backdrop for numerous photographs. I know the exact route, because finding the right work of art in endless galleries is my job.
We will also visit the recently opened "Philips Wing", explore its unusual interiors, peek at the exhibition (currently there is a photography exhibition there). The Asian Pavilion will delight us with the architects' inventiveness and the gem of the collection - the "Dancing Shiva". I am sure that the impressions will last a long time!
