About this experience
During this museum tour, you will not only get acquainted with the most famous paintings exhibited in the museum, but also learn to critically analyze art and distinguish genius works from mediocre ones. I will help you find that key to 'reading' masterpieces of art, and you will soon notice how your interest in museum artifacts strengthens as you begin to see and understand their true value.
What to Expect
All museum collections
You will walk through all the halls of the Museum of Art History, learn about the history of its main objects, and together we will try to formulate why Tiziano, Rubens, Vermeer, and other recognized masters of the brush are admired. What is it about their paintings? Why is 'Mona Lisa' a sufficient reason to visit the Louvre, and 'Night Watch' a good reason to go to Amsterdam? The goal of my tour is to help you understand when the status of a painting reflects successful PR, where technical execution plays a role, where there is the influence of aura or cultural tradition, and where there is genuine craftsmanship. The main thing is to look carefully!
Is it always about the painting itself
You will learn how the theft of Cellini's 'Saliera' affected the value of this work and how restitution proceedings can lead to unexpected new paintings taking center stage. With my help, you will be able to compare Bruegel's 'Tower of Babel' with his 'Hunters in the Snow' and juxtapose Caravaggio's 'Madonna of the Rosary' with the works of his followers. At the end of the tour, we will choose any painting from the museum's collection and together analyze its artistic potential. You will be able to answer for yourself whether this work deserves the title of a masterpiece or not.
