About this experience
Join our guided walk to explore the history and life of dynamic Berlin, beyond what any guidebook can offer. We will take you to the iconic landmarks of the city and share travel tips with you. The walk follows two routes: each will reveal the character, atmosphere, and even the unique sense of humor of 'the least German of German cities'!
What to Expect
Red Route: Ancient and Royal Berlin
You will be transported back to the founding of Berlin, see and hear how the city became a royal residence. On the majestic Gendarmenmarkt square and in the St. Nicholas Quarter, you will discover medieval legends and marvel at the craftiness of kings. At Museum Island, you will admire the magnificent Cathedral; find out where you can catch a glimpse of Angela Merkel, explore the famous museums of Berlin, learn how the bourgeoisie were lured here, and how the television tower came about.
Blue Route: Imperial and Modern Berlin
This walk continues the journey through Berlin's past. You will encounter the city's symbol - the Brandenburg Gate, through which we will pass to the monumental Reichstag. We will talk about its remarkable history and then find ourselves in 21st-century Berlin. Where the Berlin Wall once stood, the world's best architects are realizing their projects today. You will learn about this at Potsdamer Platz and in the Government Quarter. We will also tell you how Berliners relax and where the city's nightlife is vibrant.
Off-the-Beaten-Path Sites and Travel Tips
On both routes, we will help you truly discover the city from the inside out, tell you about the intricacies of Berlin's transportation system, and teach you how to navigate the city center. You will receive plenty of life hacks: which museums are worth visiting in the city, where to shop, and where to go for authentic Berlin cuisine.
