About this experience
In a bright journey through the surroundings of Kuala Lumpur, you will visit the famous caves where you can imagine the nature of Malaysia before our era, and learn the history of the temple where millions of Hindus flock. At the tin factory, I will talk about the role of metal in the flourishing of the capital. You will also see how chocolate candies are prepared here. And batik masters will show silk painting - an art on the UNESCO list and one of the main national symbols of the country.
What to expect
Batu Caves: Hindu Sanctuary
Batu Caves is a complex of caves formed at the foot of giant limestone rocks. It is not only one of the most interesting natural attractions in Asia, but also a special sacred place. The highest statue of the god Murugan, the second son of Shiva worshipped by the Tamils (who make up the majority of Malaysian Hindus), is located here.
You will explore the intricate 'interiors' of the cave, traditionally adorned with stalactites and stalagmites. You will climb to the 'Light' or 'Temple' cave - a staircase of 272 steps leads to it. You can take bright photos. And if you wish, you can participate in local rituals or simply observe their conduct - I will tell you about the subtleties of religious traditions.
Tin, Chocolate, and Batik: Malaysian Factory Color
- Next, I will take you to the Royal Selangor Pewter Factory. In the local museum, you will visually acquaint yourself with the history of tin mining in Malaysia and learn about the origins of Kuala Lumpur, which, thanks to this metal, grew from a village into a thriving city.
- At another factory, masters will show you the art of hand-painting on silk. Batik is a crucial national symbol and object of national pride.
- The next stop on our tour will be the Malaysian chocolate factory shop 'Kingdom of Chocolate.' You will surely be hungry by then, so tasting the freshest chocolate will be just right! You will try traditional and familiar sweets, and if you want some Asian exoticism, special options will be available for you.
