About this experience
Kuala Lumpur is not just a unique city, but an example of a harmonious blend of styles, traditions, and unusual places. On the overview tour, I will take you through the maze of Old Town alleys to glittering skyscrapers. Before your eyes, forested islands will be replaced by bustling markets, and ancient temples and food stalls will help you immerse yourself in a whirlwind of cultures.
What to Expect
A World of New Flavors, Colors, and Impressions
Kuala Lumpur is quite a young city that will surprise you with its rich cultural heritage and modern look. Before you is an incredible blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, English, and Portuguese influences. I will explain how the fusion of European and Asian styles originated on the site of a prospector's tent camp. I will talk about the colonial past of Malaysia's capital and show you places where it seems like the future has already arrived. I will introduce you to urban art, architecture, and food.
A City Where There is Almost Everything
I will tailor the tour program based on your preferences, as well as your place of stay and the time of day. During the day, it is worth spending more time in the Old Town to enjoy its architectural ensemble. As night falls, Kuala Lumpur transforms into an open-air shopping center: we will explore makeshift markets, bars, and restaurants. In any case, on a city stroll, you will see its iconic places:
- Independence Square—where the flag of free Malaysia was raised in 1957;
- Tian Hou Temple—the most beautiful Chinese temple in all of Malaysia;
- Sultan Abdul Samad Building—a luxurious palace reminiscent of a tale about Aladdin;
- City Park with an abundance of water bodies and trees;
- Petronas Towers with a spectacular glass bridge.
Organizational Details
- This is a walking and driving tour: we will move around the city in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle but will make stops near iconic landmarks.
- We will only view all buildings on the route from the outside. If you plan to visit one of the lookout points (Petronas Towers or the TV tower), please inform us when booking—tickets there will need to be ordered and paid for in advance.
