River of Fireflies, Friendly Silver Leaf Monkeys and Sacred Bat Caves
About this experience
If you have already explored the capital of Malaysia, then it's time to discover its surroundings. There is so much to see here! Batu Caves that formed 400 thousand years ago or earlier, the temple of the god Murugan, meeting with silver leaf monkeys, a boat ride on the river where a colony of fireflies lives, acquaintance with Malaysian culture - I have prepared a rich program for you!
What to Expect
Departure from Kuala Lumpur at 4:00 pm. Just 15 km from the city are the Batu Caves. We will have an hour to walk around them and enjoy the unearthly views. We will also climb the 272 steps to the main temple of the son of Shiva – the god Murugan. At the foot of the stairs, you will be greeted by a 43-meter gilded statue of this deity.
Around 5:00 pm, we head to the neighboring Malaysian state - Selangor. The road passes through picturesque palm and rubber plantations and rural landscapes. You will see how the Malaysian province lives. On the way, which is about an hour's drive, I will tell you about the culture and traditions of the Malays, how they live and what they are passionate about.
Our next stop is at Bukit Melawati Hill in Kuala Selangor. Here, friendly silver leaf monkeys have settled near a fort destroyed by the English. By buying food, you can put them on your shoulders and feed them by hand.
We head to the mangrove swamps on the Selangor River, 10 km from the hill, to the village of Kampung Kuantan. It is here that the largest colony of synchronously blinking fireflies lives. To admire this unique sight, we will sail on a boat along the river (30 minutes, not included in the tour price).
We return to the capital of Malaysia. I will drop you off at the hotel around 10:00 pm.
