About this experience
Introducing children to ancient Athens is a responsible mission. As an educator, I will be able to tell the great history in a language that is understandable for children and engage them with myths - the kids will be impressed and will remember Athens for a long time. The walk will pass through must-see places: you will see the changing of the guard by the evzones, meet the animals of the National Botanical Garden and the cats of the Anafiotika district, admire the city from hills, and see the Temple of Zeus.
What to Expect
Fascinating Dive into Athens
I will not overload you and your children with dry dates and information from guidebooks, but help bring history to life and immerse in the myths of Ancient Greece. The introduction to the main attractions will be in a language understandable to children.
- At Syntagma Square, you will witness the changing of the Evzones guard and learn about the purpose of their fancy "skirts" and pompom shoes.
- In the National Botanical Garden - a paradise for children - you will stroll in the shade of lush greenery, observe funny poses of aquatic turtles, find the nest of parrots, and feed mountain goats.
- At the Kallimarmaro Olympic Stadium, kids will try to repeat the famous statue of "Discobolus," learn about modern Olympic Games, and marathon running.
- On the picturesque streets of Anafiotika, you will meet the cats that have chosen this area as their home.
- At the Temple of Zeus, immerse yourself in myths about the chief god of Olympus and his adventures.
- On the Areopagus Hill, you will see the Temple of Hephaestus and the main ancient square, and I will tell you about the most interesting ancient festival - the Panathenaea.
- Passing by the main entrance to the Athenian Acropolis, we will climb the Filopappos Hill to enjoy a breathtaking view of the sea, the port of Piraeus, and the Upper Acropolis. There, in the park, we will find Socrates' prison together with the children.
We will also visit a fairytale cafe or buy the most delicious ice cream on the way in Athens!
