Get ready to be transported back in time and find yourself in the Athens of Ancient Greece! On my tour, kids will explore the main sights of the city in a playful way: follow the footsteps of ancient Greek gods, decipher ancient myths, hear stories about Mycenaeans and Spartans, and imagine what the ancient Parthenon looked like.
What to expect
Exploring the culture of Greece in a playful way
Among the key attractions of Athens, kids will travel back thousands of years and immerse themselves in the culture, lifestyle, and daily worries of the Antiquity era.
▪️ At the Royal Park, I will tell the story of how Greece was formed and why there is high seismic activity here. Kids will also learn about the animals, plants, and sea creatures found in the surroundings of Athens.
▪️ At the Panathenaic Stadium, we will remember the sporting events of Antiquity: why they emerged, who participated in them, and of course, what the main prize was at the competitions.
▪️ At the Temple of Zeus, we will discuss the supreme ancient god: kids will learn the birth story of the great Thunderer and understand what myths can say about the ideas and mindset of ancient Greeks.
▪️ Thousands of years ago, Athenians also went to school - I will talk about how education was organized in Ancient Greece and which Greek words made their way into Russian.
▪️ On the Philopappos Hill, you will see the majestic Acropolis and the sea waves, while I will help you imagine what the Parthenon looked like in its original form.
Athens as the language of myths and legends
Exploring the main corners of Athens, together with the kids, we will trace the birth of the Greek civilization. We will talk about the Minoan-Mycenaean civilization: recall the Minotaur trapped in the labyrinth, the young men and women sent to the monster from Athens. We will understand the unexpected paths through which the ancient culture developed and the place of brave Mycenaeans and stern Spartans in it. Myths associated with Athena the Virgin will help children understand the worldview of ancient people. We will also discuss the accuracy of ancient Greek chronicles and whether there is any truth in ancient myths.
