What to Expect
Mtskheta - the Second Jerusalem
From Tbilisi, you will head to the ancient capital of Georgia - Mtskheta. This sacred place is home to many holy and historically significant sites. You will climb to the top of the mountain to 'transport' yourself to one of the famous Georgian postcards - the Jvari Monastery, overlooking the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers. The charming streets of Mtskheta will lead you to the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, whose ancient walls tell the story of the origin, development, and modernity of Georgian Orthodoxy.
Uplistsikhe - Pre-Christian Georgia
In the ancient rock-hewn city of Uplistsikhe, you will understand what lies behind the phrase '2000-year-old city,' learn about the stages of its rise and fall. Walking among the ruins of former grandeur, you will discover the purpose of the cave halls, see cultic pagan structures, and unravel the layered history of the Georgian land.
Stalin Museum in Gori
Scenic roads will take you to the Kartli Valley, where the city of Gori is located - the birthplace of Joseph Stalin. You will find yourself in a building in Stalinist Gothic style, where the local guide will talk about the stages of Stalin's life. You will see the leader's office, his personal belongings, archival documents and photos, as well as Stalin's personal armored railway car.
