About this experience
Get ready for a heartwarming stroll through the most beautiful city in Central Asia. You will discover the history of Tashkent and visit different parts of it - near the Ankhor Canal, on medieval streets with mahallas, and by the 21st-century towers. You will also mold a jug in a pottery workshop, taste three types of pilaf, and take a photo by a real urban waterfall.
What to Expect
- As history teaches us, cities have always formed near water bodies. This is also true for Tashkent with its system of canals and channels expanding year by year. We will trace the origins of the city's water arteries, visit a real waterfall, and then leisurely move to the historical part - Eski Shahar.
- On the ancient streets, I will tell you about the ideal self-government system in Tashkent. You will learn how mahallas - community homes where families from several generations still live - were built. We will visit local craftsmen, and you will try your hand at molding a clay jug in a real pottery workshop.
- From the Old City, we will drive to the new Tashkent. We will pass through Konstantinov Square (now Amir Timur Square) and reach the skyscrapers of Tashkent City, where I will talk about modern urban life.
- Throughout the tour, we will make gastronomic stops to taste Uzbekistan's main dish. Of course, I'm talking about pilaf. I will offer you three types right away: teahouse, Tashkent wedding, and Samarkand pilaf. So here's a friendly tip: don't have a heavy breakfast!
