About this experience
Let's get away from standard tours. On this walk, you won't get lost in the multifaceted city on two continents and will see, if not all of Istanbul, then the most interesting places for you. From the Blue Mosque to non-trivial Asia, from the Grand Bazaar to the Maiden's Tower. I will share the city's legends, show wonderful views, and help you get to know the soul of Istanbul!
What to Expect
The Istanbul You Want to See
Before you immerse yourself in the whirlwind of Istanbul colors, write to me - and I will create an individual route, make the walk as productive and interesting as possible. Here are just a couple of program options that can be supplemented with other attractions (or completely changed):
- Classic - for you if you are in the city for the first time and want to see the symbols of Istanbul. We will start with the ruins of the Byzantine Hippodrome: discuss the events that took place here and why it fell into decay. We will walk into the underground Basilica Cistern from the 4th century, where we will examine paintings of the former Constantinople and Hippodrome. You will appreciate the interior of Hagia Sophia and the exterior - the Blue Mosque (while it is under restoration). And then visit Suleymaniye, once the largest mosque in the Ottoman Empire, and enjoy the view from its panoramic platform. If desired, we will visit the Grand Bazaar, as well as a cafe with panoramic views where Turkish coffee is beautifully sold. We will be impressed by the color of the Spice and Sweets Market (17th century) and, finally, take a walk in the park where only sultans used to relax and talk about the famous tulip festival.
- A Second Look at Istanbul: this walk can start from the bustling Galata Bridge, explore the Taksim district, and sail to the Asian part by boat. From Galata Tower, you will admire the minarets against the sky and the Golden Horn bay. On Istiklal Street with a retro tram, you will hear true stories of Russians who immigrated to Istanbul after the revolution. In the non-touristy district of Kuzguncuk, where the history of Turkish TV series began, you will be impressed by colorful houses with latticed wooden windows. Then we will head to Mount Camlica to view the city from Istanbul's highest point and visit Turkey's largest mosque. And you can end the walk in Uskudar - relax with a cup of tea on the promenade opposite Maiden's Tower.
Istanbul - Antiquity and Modernity
You will get acquainted with the city born before our era, so in the stories, I will certainly touch on history. But I will not burden you with dates and numbers. You will learn about the main twists in the city's fate, immerse yourself in its legends and tales of the past. And I will take you to a panoramic cafe, where over a cup of coffee, you will hear about the sacred meaning of the whirling dervishes dance. I will tell you where to enjoy this mesmerizing ritual after the tour.
Who Will Enjoy the Tour
