About this experience
Wismar is a wonderful seaside city that will captivate you with its mansions and brick Gothic churches. You will visit the port harbor, stroll through the historic center, and observe the local relaxed way of life. I will tell you about the trades of the Wismar merchants in the Middle Ages, how the 'Swedish period' influenced the city's appearance, and how the annual 'Herring Day' festival is celebrated here.
What to expect
Antique cozy Wismar
I will show you the main places of Wismar: the Town Hall Square, the Gothic Quarter, the Pig's Foot Bridge, the house of the Mayor Schabel, and the first department store of the founder of the trading empire Karstadt. You will also:
- Take a walk in the port harbor, where fresh and smoked fish are sold from boats
- See the historic brewery, where you can drop by during or after our walk
- Stroll along Germany's oldest canal and admire the unique 'Gewölbe' house
- Visit the Church of St. Nicholas and learn its history
And much more!
