Hamburg is an excellent example of how a city destroyed during the war can be rebuilt if the developers have not only money but also taste. During the tour, you will see a trading, cultural, industrial, scientific, and still a port city - pleasing to the eye, soothing to the ears, and giving a sense of distant wanderings. A city of concerts, musicals, discos, first-class culinary and medical arts.
What to Expect
The second most populous city in Germany is located between two seas, but coming here is worth it not only if you have decided to refresh and replenish your wardrobe, order or rebuild a mega-yacht, or redecorate the interior of your plane.
Of course, a tour of Hamburg includes the town hall square and the place where the current Hamburg 'began'. We will walk along the oldest street in the city and the street where the famous fire of 1842 started, which preserved merchant buildings of ancient construction. You will learn what a 'port city' means: where the port used to be and where the lakes appeared in the city center. You will see a new type of 'office real estate' that emerged in the 19th century and changed the way of life of the Hamburg merchants. We will see the evolution of business architecture and how the power of the law and the judicial system is architecturally emphasized. We will look at Hamburg's symbol - 'Michel'. We will walk through the harbor area - a synonym for debauchery (which, however, is losing its charm, captured in books, songs, and movies).
We will leave the boundaries in which Hamburg was until the second half of the 19th century and see areas that delight the eye and soul with beauty and coziness - canals, quiet and lively streets lined with suburban (though today it is the city) villas and income houses in the Art Nouveau style. Those interested can see where the 'great freedom' began during the time of the conflict between Hamburg and Denmark.
If you have the time and desire, we will take a downstream ride on the Elbe and see what former fishing villages turn into when there are big money in the city.
