About this experience
Schwerin is the capital of the northern German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It was founded by Duke Henry the Lion on the site of the former Slavic fortress Zverin. You will walk through the historic center and see all the main landmarks: Town Hall Square, Cathedral, Comode House, and much more. I will share the history and peculiarities of the city's modern life with you.
What to Expect
We will walk through three narrow streets, see the Comode House and the original building of the 'Prague' cafe. Passing through the government district, we will reach the Alten Garten Square, where the historical buildings of the Schwerin Theater and the State Museum are located. In addition, we will:
- Visit Town Hall Square with an original monument to Henry the Lion
- See a sculpture on the Butchers' Market Square dedicated to a cheerful folk song about a pastor's cow
- Examine the 'pierced' Schwerin Cathedral
- Stroll around the Priests' Pond, next to which stands the majestic building of the former arsenal
- Observe the bust of the founder of the Universal Postal Union, Heinrich von Stephan
After our tour, you can independently visit Schwerin Castle and the magnificent park adjacent to it.
