About this experience
Exploring the wine regions will not only introduce you to the culture and nature of Armenia but also create a memorable experience filled with pleasant aromas, flavors, breathtaking views, and captivating stories. The itinerary includes visits to Khor Virap Monastery, Noravank Monastery, Areni-1 Cave, as well as wine tastings at local wineries and vineyards!
What to Expect
Mount Ararat and Khor Virap Monastery
Less than an hour's drive from Yerevan, we will reach a viewing point overlooking Mount Ararat, blending majestically with the beautiful landscape along with the Khor Virap Monastery. If time permits, we can also visit the monastery, depending on the number of wineries you wish to visit.
Where Wine is Born
A 10-minute drive from the viewpoint will lead us to Tushpa winery - a family-owned enterprise that has grown significantly due to the dedication of its founders. Here, we will enjoy a tasting of three varieties of wine and brandy, accompanied by light snacks. The cost is 5000 drams per person.
Noravank Monastery
Heading further south, an hour and a half's drive will pass by swiftly amidst gardens, mountain landscapes, and a village where hundreds of storks nest from March to September, making the journey interesting and pleasant. Upon arrival, I will show you the Noravank Monastery located in a picturesque canyon.
Underground World
After a short drive, we will explore the Areni-1 cave, also known as the Bird Cave by locals. Archaeologists have discovered many important artifacts here, including an ancient winery. The entrance fee to the cave is 1500 drams per person.
The Cradle of Winemaking
Concluding the cultural and historical part, we continue our acquaintance with Armenian wine. In good weather, we will visit the Momik Wine vineyards, where hospitable hosts, good wine, mountains, vineyards, and absolute silence await us! The cost per person, depending on the package chosen, ranges from 3000 drams for a basic tasting package to 10,000 drams for an extended tasting with food.
If the weather is cold or unfavorable, we will head to the indoor tasting room at Old Bridge winery or Hin Areni, with prices ranging from 5000-7000 for a standard package to 17,000 drams for a package with tasting and a hearty meal. In case any of the main wineries in the program is unable to accommodate us for any reason, we will replace it with one from the list:
— Givany Winery
— Noa
— Dove Canyon
— Trinity Canyon Vineyards
— Stepanyan’s (homemade type)
