About this experience
Modern Barcelona can only be understood by learning about its past, which is hidden in the labyrinths of the Gothic Quarter. Travelers often avoid it, fearing to get lost. In my company, this will not happen. But the purpose of the tour is, of course, broader. On the narrow paved streets, I will tell you how people lived here in different eras, how the Catalan mentality formed, and what made Barcelona so special.
What to Expect
- The walk will start on the famous boulevard La Rambla, where you will learn about the boundaries of old Barcelona.
- We will visit a Roman necropolis and talk about the traditions of the ancient people.
- At the Cathedral, we will discuss its various architectural styles. I will tell fun facts from the history of the temple, together we will find the 'advertisements' of the Middle Ages and even a unicorn!
- We will walk along the Roman walls that have survived to this day. We will peek into the headquarters of the Spanish Holy Inquisition.
- Not far from the Cathedral, we will visit the King's Square. This is a unique place and the historical center of the city's count and royal power.
- On the Council Square, you will learn about the modern structure of Barcelona and why Catalonia still wants to separate from the Spanish Kingdom.
- Along the route, you will also see columns of an ancient Roman temple, the Jewish Quarter, street art by Pablo Picasso, and a mailbox in the style of Catalan modernism.
