About this experience
The Gothic Quarter is where the city was born. Its winding alleys still feel the pulse of the Middle Ages, and the ancient walls seem to echo the sounds of bygone eras. Imagine that once Christopher Columbus, Pablo Picasso, and Antoni Gaudí walked these squares. And now we will leisurely stroll through them. I will tell you how this quarter differs from others, what legends it holds, and how it lives today.
What to Expect
Journey into the Past
We will enter a labyrinth of narrow streets and countless squares, filled with cafes and bars. We will admire the remains of Barcelona's fortress city, the columns of a Roman temple, the cathedral, old palaces of kings and bishops. We will immerse ourselves in Catalonia's golden period of history when the country's fame and wealth resounded throughout Europe.
You will learn:
- how to visit the most famous market in Europe
- where to see Picasso's work without paying anything
- where exactly the first murder in Grasse from the movie 'Perfume' took place
- why city officials collected urine in pots on street corners
- why a 13-year-old girl was executed and why she is considered the patron saint of Barcelona
- why residents of houses next to the ancient Roman cemetery sold their apartments and fled from there
- which cathedral is a contemporary of Moscow
- and much more
