About this experience
I invite you to visit the romantic islands of the Venetian Lagoon: you will enjoy the colors of the colorful fishing village of Burano, marvel at the skill of the glassblowers in Murano, and feel the tranquility on the sparsely populated idyllic Torcello. I will tell you the history, traditions, and legends of the islands: you will learn why Burano has colorful houses, the secret of the absence of people on Torcello, and the reason why glass is produced specifically in Murano.
What to Expect
Venetian Islands Charm
You will visit three amazing islands of the Venetian Lagoon, each with its own character and even dialect. The itinerary includes:
- Murano - I will tell you why the world-famous glass has been produced here since the 13th century. You will visit a glassblowing gallery and see how a master turns a molten piece of glass into a work of art. I will show you rare and modern exhibits made of Murano glass. If desired, you can purchase them for yourself or as gifts.
- Torcello - not the most famous, but a truly extraordinary island. Indigenous Venetians still live here, there are no tourist crowds and many charming cafes and gardens. You will learn about the legend of the 'Devil's Bridge' and visit the magnificent 7th-century Byzantine church where Hemingway wrote the novel 'Across the River and Into the Trees'.
- Burano - an island famous for its brightly colored buildings. Moreover, each house has its own color, set by the Burano municipality, which the owners can only change with the mayor's approval. I will introduce you to the Burano lacemakers, tell their stories and traditions.
Organizational Details
- Transportation between the islands is not included in the price. You can use public water transport 'vaporetto' (daily pass per person - 20 euros) or book a private boat (150 euros per hour, a minimum of 3 hours required).
- Drinks and food are paid for separately
