About this experience
We are heading to Tsaghkadzor to explore it from an unexpected angle - away from the ski slopes. We will visit the fortress of Bjni and imagine how the princes lived there. Witness two beautiful Christian monasteries. Discover a village where Greeks and Assyrians live - and find out how they ended up there. And after a full day, rejuvenate in the thermal springs.
What to Expect
- You will visit an important Armenian shrine - the Monastery of the Mother of God, or as the locals call it, Kecharis. It was built in the 11th century by the princely Pahlavuni family and the cultural-political figure Grigor Magistros.
- Explore the 9th-century fortress of Bjni. You will see the remains of the castle, a 5th-century church, and a secret exit from the fortress to the gorge of the Razdan River. Learn about the lives of kings and princes in the Middle Ages.
- Witness one of Armenia's most beautiful Christian sanctuaries - the 10th-century Monastery of the Holy Mother of God. Discover how Greeks and Assyrians live in the monastery village and how they arrived there.
- Relax, rejuvenate, and recharge in the thermal springs.
