About this experience
I will show you the places that are usually not included in standard tour programs. You will visit the 16th-century Shehzade Mosque and the Church of One Day, where it is customary to make wishes. You will explore the heart of the Byzantine capital and stroll through the largest trading center of the Ottoman Empire. You will also learn how these empires have influenced the course of history and the development of humanity.
What to expect
- Chamberlitas Area. Located on the site of the former Constantinople - right in its center, where the Forum was located.
- 16th-century Shehzade Mosque. Built by the order of Suleiman the Magnificent in memory of his son Shehzade Mehmed. Next to the mosque stands a column that marked the center of Ottoman Istanbul.
- Constantinopolitan Orthodox Church and the Balat district with its famous colorful houses.
- Pantokrator Mosque. Rulers of two Byzantine dynasties were buried here. Also, there is a cistern in this building that has survived to this day. It is open to visitors. If you wish and it is open, we will go inside.
- Suleymaniye Mosque. Until 2019, it was the largest mosque in Istanbul. The tomb of Suleiman the Magnificent and Roxelana is located on its territory.
- Grand Bazaar. The largest trading center of the Ottoman Empire. Currently, there are about 3500 shops where you can buy souvenirs, antiques, leather goods, ceramics, and wood products.
- Valens Aqueduct. Built between 368-378 by the order of Roman Emperor Valens. It was an important part of Constantinople's water supply system. Its length used to be 1 km, and 625 m have survived to this day.
