About this experience
If you have a layover in Cairo of 3 hours, that is enough to visit the capital. We will organize a route depending on how much free time you have and if you have been here before. The Great Pyramids of Giza, Coptic quarter, churches and mosques, an authentic market in historic streets - the choice is vast. We will help you decide, pick you up from the airport, and immerse you in history.
What to expect
Before you is an 8-hour program, from which we can visit only some places if you are limited in time. And if you only have 3 free hours, we recommend dedicating them to the pyramids (the cost of the tour will be lower). During the tour, we will not only show you the sights, but also share interesting facts from the past.
The Old City, or Coptic Quarter - the historical part of Cairo in the south. Here you will see ancient Roman structures, the Egyptian Babylon - a fortress built in the 30th century BC, ancient churches - St. Mary and Abu Serga, the oldest mosque in Egypt - Amr Ibn el-As (642 AD).
The Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. On the west bank of the Nile River in the area of the Giza Plateau lies a complex of pyramids that are over 4500 years old. These are the famous tombs of the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. At the base of the plateau are burial temples and the ancient guardian of the pyramids, the Great Sphinx.
A felucca ride on the Nile, which will offer a new perspective of Cairo from the water.
Al-Muizz street and Khan el-Khalili bazaar - a labyrinth of ancient trading streets. Some of them are inside a 16th-century structure, some have open-air stalls. Here you will soak up a special atmosphere, as well as walk among buildings from medieval times.
