About this experience
Korea was not always a country of skyscrapers: to understand the true nature of the country, one must go back to its past. That's why we will travel back to the Joseon Dynasty era. We will visit the 'Blooming Fortress', experience Korean culture in a folklore village, and learn about the life of craftsmen from the 18th century. You will discover the everyday life of Koreans during that time, with all its traditions and vibrancy.
What to Expect
Minsokchon Village
We will stroll through the village streets and see traditional houses from the Joseon Dynasty rule (1392-1897) - and we will definitely visit some of them. For example, a shaman's house, as well as the workshops of a blacksmith and a potter, to learn how people used to live and work in Korea.
At the national museum, I will talk about the origin, customs, and traditions of Koreans. If you're lucky, you might see a traditional performance or Korean dances.
Hwaseong Fortress
After that, we will head to Suwon to see one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. Over the centuries, Hwaseong Fortress has witnessed many historical events - I will tell you about them. We will also discuss the emperor who built the fortress and the political views of Korea in the late 18th century.
You can walk along the fortress walls, immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the past - and even try archery if you want to feel like a warrior. And if there is time left - we will visit the local market and the palace of the 22nd ruler of Joseon.
