About this experience
To understand why Barcelona looks the way it does, it's worth starting with its foundation. We will walk from the preserved fragments of the Roman era to modern buildings. In this way, architecture and my stories will help you form a correct understanding of the city and put together the main milestones of its history.
What to expect
A walk through the city's eras
We will start the tour with the legendary and ancient Gothic Quarter, where you will see the preserved fragments of the Roman wall and Roman temple. And then I will show you how and by whom the city was built in different eras: you will walk through Saint James's Square, visit the Jewish Quarter with the oldest synagogue in Europe, explore the Boqueria market to learn about Catalan culinary traditions, approach the Royal Square, explore the old Born district, and see many other important symbols of Barcelona, which, like puzzle pieces, have formed the picture of its history.
History made clear and easy
Throughout the tour, I will succinctly and clearly tell you the history of Barcelona. Don't worry, we will do without boring dates and themes - on the contrary, in my arsenal, there are stories of bright and pivotal events, as well as random but interesting facts. For example, you will learn about the Jewish community and its fate after the queen's decree expelling all Jews from Spain. You will understand how one could obtain Roman citizenship in those times and what it could lead to later. You will hear about Catalan cuisine and its traditions. And, of course, you will learn a little more about the architect who made the capital of Catalonia famous worldwide with his masterpieces.
