About this experience
Imagine a journey through time that will immerse you in ancient history and at the same time reveal modern wonders. In Barcelona, it will be just like that - here mysteries of alchemists coexist with bourgeois luxury, medieval streets with masterpieces of modernism, Gaudi's creations with a Roman cemetery. I will reveal two faces of the city for you, with all the realities and hidden facts.
What to Expect
Atmospheric Old City
Let's start with the city center, where many medieval buildings are preserved. I will uncover the main milestones of its history, from the Roman Empire to the Carthaginian rule. Walking through atmospheric streets, you will be constantly amazed: sailors and craftsmen once lived here, the Spanish Inquisition raged, and now life is bustling around tapas bars and shops of local designers. Along the route, we will encounter:
- Cathedral
- Gothic Quarter
- Entrance to the Roman city of Barsino
- Philip Neri Square - the saddest place in Barcelona
- Palace where the monarchs greeted Columbus upon his return
- Roman cemetery
- La Rambla Boulevard
- El Born Quarter - settlement of craftsmen, merchants, knights, and sailors
Epicenter of Bustling Life
In the second part of the journey, we will discover the ceremonial Barcelona in all its splendor. I will explain how medieval walls and the skill of ancient craftsmen influenced the unique architecture of the modern city. I will explain why the main world masterpieces of modernism were built in Barcelona. You will see the works of the brilliant Gaudi and other architects who turned the ancient port city into a modernism sanctuary. Here are some of them:
- Catalonia Square
- Passeig de Gracia
- Quadrant of Dispute and the fairy-tale house of Ballo
- La Pedrera, or the Quarry
- Sagrada Familia
The tour will end near the Sagrada Familia temple. You will have unlimited time to visit the temple, and I will also help plan your further route.
