What to expect
Picturesque and informative journey
The road will pass along the northern shore of Lake Balaton - through hills and slopes covered with vineyards and fruit orchards, past the ruins of fortresses, along basalt cliffs. As you admire the nature of Hungary, the guide will tell you about its history, royal dynasties, and interesting places along the way - for example, about Szekesfehervar, the first capital of the country.
Antiquity and luxury of the resort town Balatonfured
In Balatonfured, the country's first spa resort town, you will immerse yourself in its aristocratic atmosphere, strolling along the promenade with centuries-old plane trees. You will imagine how celebrities rested here in the 19th century, learn about the prestigious sailing regatta, the appearance of the memorial park and unravel the secret of the springs of Balatonfured and taste this healing water.
Toy houses of the Tihany peninsula
The second stop is the secluded Tihany, where you will immediately see the towers of the ancient Benedictine Abbey. Founded by the Hungarian King Andrew I, whose wife Anastasia was the daughter of Yaroslav the Wise. According to legend, she gave the name to the peninsula when she exclaimed upon arriving here: 'What a tranquility!'. You will be charmed by this town, walking past houses with reed roofs and souvenir shops of local craftsmen. And in the summer, you will come across a colorful lavender festival!
Heviz - a town-bathhouse engulfed in greenery
The highlight of the journey will be the town of Heviz, or rather the eponymous lake - the largest thermal lake in the world, which has attracted travelers since the mid-17th century. You will learn about the uniqueness of its waters, bathe here, and appreciate their miraculous power.
Organizational Details
- Food, entrance tickets to museums (optional visit), and the thermal lake are paid for separately (10 euros for 3 hours).
- The excursion can be arranged for a larger number of travelers (up to 8 passengers - in a minibus; up to 16 passengers - in a bus; on a large tour bus).
- In case of cancellation from your side within 48 hours or less before the start of the tour, the payment made on the website is non-refundable. No force majeure exceptions.
How the tour goes
- You will be accompanied by a professional guide from our team and an experienced driver.
- Usually, you will have 2-2.5 hours for swimming in Lake Heviz. Remember to bring bathing essentials: towel, swimsuit, rubber slippers.
- The excursion can be adjusted according to your wishes (for example, you can extend the time in the towns by reducing the time in Lake Heviz or vice versa).
