About this experience
Budapest, like any capital, is elegant and magnificent. However, guests often want to go beyond this 'grandeur' and see the real life of the country. So, we will do just that, while also exploring a must-see attraction, without which a trip to Hungary is incomplete - Lake Balaton. So, the plan includes 2 small towns and a hamlet, crossing the lake on a ferry, and lots of impressions.
What to expect
A bit of history and a walk in Balatonfüred
To keep you entertained on the way, the guide will captivate you with stories about the first capital of Hungary, about the kings, and how curious rituals took place during their time. Of course, there will be a lot of information about the lake, as it is almost as popular as Budapest. In Balatonfüred, we will stroll along the Tagore promenade shaded by beautiful plane trees. We will leisurely have a cup of coffee on the waterfront and discuss the color of the lake's water (trust me, there is a lot to pay attention to here). The town is considered one of the oldest resorts, as it is rich in natural carbonated springs - so after the walk, we will head to the drinking fountain named after Lajos.
A postcard-perfect peninsula
The cozy town of Tihany is an 11th-century abbey, with inspiring views of the lake and lavender fields. The lavender plantations recently became a highlight of the peninsula, and you can see them only in June. But at other times, pleasant trinkets and lavender products are available: chocolate, soap, sachets, and even wine. From the viewpoint, we will admire the panorama of Balaton and try to track a school of fish like medieval fishermen. From Tihany to the port of Szántód, we will cross the lake on a ferry and continue the journey to the hamlet.
Authentic atmosphere – right here
In Raposka, you will undoubtedly immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Hungarian province. To do this, we head to the charda: first of all, traditional dishes are cooked in the stylized kitchen stoves (meaning, you should and must have lunch here); secondly, the hosts have a 180-year-old cellar, where you should descend for a tasting or out of idle curiosity; thirdly, there is a small zoo and a stable here. Your free time at the hamlet is at your disposal: ride horses or try local wines, but these are additional budget options, so it is advisable to inform us of your preferences in advance.
