What to Expect
Different roles in different times
The history of the Colosseum is mesmerizing and at the same time bittersweet. In antiquity, it served as an arena where bloody spectacles of dizzying scales took place. Neither Hiroshima nor Nagasaki had such a high concentration of deaths. During the Middle Ages, the Colosseum took on the role of a fortress. Workshops, stables, barns, and even currency exchange points were located here. During the Baroque period, attempts were made to erect a Catholic altar in the arena. And to this day, a small chapel remains in the Colosseum where services are held.
During the 2-hour journey into the past, you will:
- learn about the history of the amphitheater's creation
