About this experience
This is an extraordinary excursion to the fairy-tale places of Montenegro. You will visit secluded corners of the country and see nature that is hardly found anywhere else on earth in terms of beauty. We will visit the Piva Lake, drive along a serpentine road where it almost feels like the mountain dwellers will come out at any moment. We will enter the land of elves and mountain peaks and take a look into the blue eyes of Durmitor.
What to expect
Piva Monastery
The road will take us from the coast to the northernmost part of Montenegro. Along the way, we will stop at picturesque spots overlooking the Bay of Kotor and the salty lake. You will hear the amazing story of the Piva Monastery, built in the 16th century under the incredible conditions of the Turkish conquest of the Balkans. We will visit the monastery, the main church of which is adorned with ancient frescoes.
Piva Lake
From the monastery, we drive to the deep Piva Canyon. Once a small, fast mountain river flowed at the bottom here. In the 20th century, the gorge was dammed up with a huge dam, creating a lake hemmed in by mountains on both sides.
Gnome Serpentine Road
From the lake, the road goes up a nearly sheer slope, partially disappearing into the mountain massif. All the loops of this amazing serpentine road are hidden in tunnels. Driving through them, you can hardly believe that this was done by human hands. Tales of mountain dwellers come to mind. Along the way, we will encounter viewpoints where unforgettable photos can be taken.
Sedlo Pass
From the land of gnomes, we will enter the land of elves with mountain herbs, huge gray boulders, and mighty peaks. Among them are the striped Prutaš, seemingly made of wickers, the dual-headed Sedlo, the solitary Stog, and many others. Here you can easily encounter a fox, hare, or mountain goat.
Cable Car
From the pass, we descend to the plateau of the lake, from where we take a cable car to Mount Savin Kuk. On one side, we will see the plateau with the blue lakes - mountain eyes. On the other side, the heart of Durmitor will appear - the ridge with peaks like the Fangs, Bear, and, of course, Bobotov Kuk - the highest point in Montenegro. At your request, we will climb to the very top of Savin Kuk to see the famous Black Lake and the small Snake Lake. The ascent will take 15-20 minutes.
Zabljak
In the small town of Zabljak, we will rest and have lunch at one of the restaurants. You can try traditional dishes from northern Montenegro, such as boiled kid meat, cornmeal and cheese dish kacamak, Durmitor trout.
Tara Canyon
The road will take us back into the mountains. Sleek fir forests will be replaced by dwarf alpine pines, not taller than human height, and juniper bushes. We will find ourselves at the edge of the Tara Canyon - the deepest in Montenegro. There are also several viewpoints here where you can take beautiful photos.
Susica Canyon and Susicko Lake
To complete the circle around Durmitor, we will visit another deep canyon. At its bottom springs the purest spring water, and hidden among the rocks is the secluded Susicko Lake. It is full of water only at the beginning of summer, then the water seeps underground through the karst rock. But even without water, this place is wonderful.

- I will pick you up anywhere along the Herzeg-Novi Riviera: from Igalo to Risan. Transfer from another location along the Montenegrin coast is subject to an additional fee. Details will be provided in our correspondence.
