About this experience
"The end justifies the means" - the famous thesis from the pen of Niccolò Machiavelli. For five centuries, his name has been associated with the most cynical methods of governing the state, and the term 'Machiavellianism' has become synonymous with cruelty. What kind of politician was he really? I invite you to his house-museum. You will learn under what circumstances he created the treatise, and draw your own conclusions.
What to expect
- The tour will start in the center of Florence. Our trip to the estate will only take 20-30 minutes. You will visit the Chianti Valley, see luxurious landscapes, and walk through the vineyards.
- We will visit the house of Niccolò Machiavelli, where he was in exile after falling out of favor with the Medici family. We will sit at the table where the politician wrote his 'Prince', see how his daily life was organized. We will visit the garden where he walked daily, and then descend into the wine cellars and walk through a secret tunnel.
- Upon your request, we can visit a restaurant that has been operating continuously since 1452 and preaches the 'zero kilometer principle'. You will learn what this is and treat yourself to a real Tuscan lunch - cheeses, sausages, crostini, pasta, dessert, and three types of wine from a local winery.
