About this experience
This tour will introduce you to the world of the richest Azerbaijani cuisine and acquaint you with its main components. You will embark on a gastronomic journey through the Old City, the colorful Baku bazaar, and the Caspian Sea coast. In one day, you will explore new shades of flavors and aromas, taste local delicacies, the most delicious lamb and sturgeon in the world, aromatic wines, countless spices, and dried fruits. And as a result, you will get to know the unique culture of Azerbaijan through its national cuisine!
What to Expect
Breakfast in the Old City
Your introduction to the gastronomic culture of Azerbaijan in the Old City will start with a traditional breakfast consisting of village butter, cheese, honey, hot freshly baked tandoor bread, aromatic tea or coffee. After nourishing yourself, we will take a walk through the iconic sights of the Old City, so you can immerse yourself in the history and architecture of Baku.
Azerbaijani Flavors at the Eastern Bazaar
You will visit one of the oldest Baku bazaars, where I will tell you about the specifics of Azerbaijani cuisine, its main ingredients and characteristic spices, national and regional dishes. At the bazaar, you can delve deeper into the world of eastern cuisine and also taste and purchase various spices, dried fruits, the freshest Caspian black caviar, exclusive varieties of Azerbaijani tea, and much more.
Fish Restaurant by the Caspian Sea
Next, we will head to the Northern coast of Absheron: after a short walk along the Caspian Sea, we will stop for lunch at one of the fish restaurants, where you will taste shashlik made from freshly caught sturgeon and other sea fish, as well as other delicious dishes with Azerbaijani spices. Along the way, you will see the Fire Temple and visit the flaming mountain Yanardag, learn about the ancient religion of Azerbaijan and the cult of fire.
Authentic Dishes and Secret Recipes
After lunch, we will return to Baku and ascend to the observation deck in Nagorny Park - from this point of the city, you will have the best view of the city! In the evening, you will enjoy dinner at a national restaurant, where they cook lamb carre, shah-plov, and other traditional Azerbaijani dishes superbly. Get ready to taste the most delicious lamb in the world, prepared according to an ancient recipe from local chefs.

- Food and drink expenses are not included in the tour price and are paid separately. For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we will choose authentic places where Azerbaijanis themselves go: prices here are usually much lower than in tourist restaurants in Baku.
