About this experience
During the trip, you will visit the ancestral residence of an aristocratic family with a centuries-old history, a unique repository of human remains, and a historical town that was once a center of European silver fever. You will also have the opportunity to taste local cuisine in an authentic Czech brewery.
Program
Czech Sternberg – "Star on the Mountain" – is the residence of the Sternberg family. One of the few aristocratic families in Europe that can say "von und zu" – "from" Sternberg and "on" Sternberg. The history of the family and the castle spans over 800 years. The current owner living in the castle, Mr. Zdenek Sternberg, kindly offers guests the opportunity to explore the history of his family in 15 magnificent halls.
Sedlec Ossuary – a repository of human remains. There are numerous ossuaries throughout Europe. The manipulation of human bones is not the result of neglectful ignorance, but a harsh necessity. Small old Europe, small in size. There are many ossuaries, but only in the Czech Sedlec, human imagination turned fragile remains into candle holders, chandeliers, and other interior decorations of the crypt. The Sedlec Ossuary is not a tourist attraction, it is a place for meditation and reflection.
Kutna Hora. The historic part of the city is one of the 12 sites in the Czech Republic included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the past, it was the center of European silver fever. Today, it is a cozy provincial town that carefully preserves its history.
"Dachitsky" – at the end of the tour, I invite you to lunch at the famous brewery. Historical interior, sounds of medieval music, candlelight, traditional Czech dishes, and excellent beer.
Optionally, during the summer, you can take a tour of the old silver mines. Cost – 150 crowns. Duration – 120 minutes.
