About this experience
I invite you to discover the most youthful, progressive, artistic, and dynamic city in Denmark. Aarhus serves as an excellent example of creativity in everything: its sculptural decoration and architectural appearance were formed thanks to the world's best talents. We will walk through the city center and its Latin Quarter: you will see iconic graffiti and other examples of alternative culture in Aarhus, and also understand why this city is rightfully considered the cultural capital of the Danish kingdom. Along the way, I will tell you about modern life in Denmark firsthand and share my interesting urban finds.
What to Expect
Leading travel publications have only recently discovered the palette of Aarhus and continue to write about the city with such a wide range of opportunities for world-class tourism. Aarhus was even chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2017!
First, we will head to Store Torv Square, where you will see that in this democratic city, the back wall of the most prestigious hotel can easily be home to the street art of an avant-garde artist. You will see: an artist does not have to be hungry at all! I will show you that in Aarhus, an artist can easily own one of the most popular bars. The place itself ironically calls itself 'A Gathering Place for Provincial Cosmopolitans and Emerging Professionals.' Each year, this bar holds its own award ceremony for distinguished figures in culture and show business. The winner receives a 4-kilogram bronze mask =)
Then, we will walk through the streets of the Latin Quarter and get acquainted with the most unusual sculpture in Aarhus. The Danes' tolerance is known worldwide, so the monument to the hermaphrodite has long ceased to surprise anyone here. We will follow to one of the freshest and largest works on the city walls - a modern remake of Matisse. A new interpretation of the classics refreshes this ancient quarter.
Next, we will delve into history. I will tell you how innocent propaganda of the 70s led to the prosperity of Europe's most environmentally friendly country and introduce you to Aarhus' international face. We will conclude the route by visiting the Center for Alternative Culture.
