About this experience
I want to introduce you to the cozy, 'tasty', medieval Gouda - show the essential cultural and historical heritage, guide you through small courtyards, and tell you about the dishes that Gouda residents adore! My author's route is for those who are tired of the crowds of big cities and are ready to see the places where the Dutch themselves love to live and relax!
What to expect
Not just cheese
You will find yourself in the heart of the Netherlands. It was here long ago that cheese was made and sold, which sailed on large Dutch ships around the world. But this city was rich and famous not only for cheese. I will prove it. I will show you the central square and the Weigh House, Erasmus Park and the old fish market, Erasmus of Rotterdam's House and the street of endless prayer, the stroopwafel workshop, and the country's largest ice cream shop. And yet about cheese - from May to September, every Thursday morning (from 10:00 to 12:00), the cheese market opens its doors here!
What you will accomplish during our exciting 3-hour walk:
- visit the longest and most beautiful Protestant church in the Netherlands,
- get acquainted with the place where rich and famous Dutch people lived in the 15th-18th centuries,
- peek into the window of a real house in a windmill,
- see how and where the famous Gouda cheese was made and stored,
- try the local chocolate and Gouda waffles,
- take colorful photos with beautiful boats and yachts on the canals.
