About this experience
For those who not only want to enjoy the incredible nature of Sinai, but also immerse themselves in history, retrace the path of Moses, and see what is not shown on regular tours, I invite you to our 'Sinai Labyrinth'. We will visit ancient monasteries, walk through the Valley of Pilgrims, peek into the huts of prehistoric man, discover an oasis, and swim in the waters of the Gulf of Suez.
What to expect
At the core of the excursion are several events united by the theme of Moses' exodus with the Israelites from Egypt to Palestine. Our journey will start in Sharm el-Sheikh: we will drive to the Taba Reserve, take a leisurely stroll through the rocky Valley of Pilgrims Wadi Hagag, and then switch to jeeps. And then the most interesting part begins! So, on the agenda:
Ein Hodra (biblical Hoderut) - a natural spring from which Moses and his people took water. We will climb to the plateau and take photos against the backdrop of the magnificent oasis.
Hagar El-Maktub - an ancient stone with ancient inscriptions and drawings. Pilgrims, merchants, and travelers who stopped here on their way to the sacred Mount Sinai left them at different times.
Navamis. In the Hagag Valley, we will visit mysterious dwellings of prehistoric man. They are built of rough stone and resemble beehives.
Saint Catherine's Monastery - the oldest Orthodox monastery, continuously operating since the 6th century. This landmark of Sinai is located right where God spoke to Moses. We will definitely go inside: you will see Moses' well, the Burning Bush, the church, and the mosque. Then we will explore the monastery from the outside and head for lunch.
Wadi Firn (Rephidim) - the most famous palm tree-lined valley with a water reservoir in all of Sinai, known as the Sinai Oasis. Here we will see the legendary mountains of Jebel el Banat and Jebel et Tahun, visit the nunnery of the Seven Sisters. You will learn why the Amalekites did not allow the sons of Israel to access the water and the role the valley played in the Late Middle Ages.
The city of El-Tor, which was a meeting place for Christian and Muslim pilgrims on sacred journeys to Jerusalem, Mount Sinai, and Mecca. We will swim in the waters of the Gulf of Suez, in the sandy bay of El-Kilane. From here, you can see two continents at once - Africa and Asia. We will admire the landscapes, rest, and head back to the hotel.
