The Treasures of Sinai: St. Catherine's Monastery and Labyrinth Canyon
About this experience
The Sinai Desert is full of amazing places! We will venture into its heart - the 6th-century Christian monastery. Learn about the history of the monastery, its connection to Moses and the Bible. Then, take a stroll through the labyrinth canyon with its steep narrow walls, where you will hear about life in the sands. Conclude the journey with lunch by the water's edge at a restaurant in Dahab.
What to Expect
The excursion follows a specific route, but we always listen to your interests, so we can focus on the historical part or on activities.
St. Catherine's Monastery. Learn about its history and the lives of early Christian hermits here. Discover who Dorothea was, how she embraced Christianity, and why she was executed by the emperor. Uncover the mysterious biblical objects on the monastery grounds and explore who Moses conversed with at the burning bush.
Labyrinth Canyon, where narrow walls tower 10 meters above and the gorge loops left and right, up and down. As you walk through the canyon, you will hear how the locals survive in the harsh desert conditions.
